We've always been a big fan of Apple devices altho not owning too much hardware that carries the Apple logo. Uptil now we both have an iPod Shuffle to go jogging and we just bought a little Macbook.
We've watched the release of the iPad very closely and with much anticipation. I think it's gonna be a brilliant device to work on and yet again, Apple has managed to deliver a product that might very well open the doors to a whole new era of computing (if that term is still used).
Since we are both based in Europe the iPad won't be available for another 2 months or so (June 2010) and with this project we wanted to give webmasters (pro or amateur) the opportunity to have a semi-simulated look at their site in the iPad environment.
In that light, this site should only be regarded as a gimmick.
In no way does this little flash app mimic the beauty and full extent of the iPad interface.
That said, you should use this site for whatever purpose you see fit.. It is
certainly a good way to get exposure for your website(s) through our homepage and generate clicktroughs to your own site.
What's the deal with the 'human interface'.
Since most websites out there where you can upload and view stuff are pretty much all handled by scripts and automated routines that send out emails when things are done, we wanted to change that.
There is an option when you create your iPaddollar.com screenshot that allows for human intervention. This is a great feature if you don't know how (or are too lazy) to take the screenshot yourself to make it look nice.
If you tick the box my girlfriend and me will get an (automated :p) email and whoever one of us is the fastest will take the screenshot for you, put it online and send you a personal note about it.
Hence giving the site a partly "human interface".
Talking about service!
Obviously you are buying yourself exposure for the money. But not only that. We need cash to keep this site running and hosting all your big fat screenshots is not free.
Also, there is an option in the creation form that allows for human intervention if you don't know how (or are too lazy) to take the screenshot yourself. If you tick the right box my girlfriend and me will get an email and whoever one of us is the fastest will take the screenshot for you, put it online and send you a personal email about it. Talking about service.
In the end, we're just trying to make enough money (and to get the exposure off course) to buy ourselves an iPad and start experimenting with that gorgeous device for real, so that we don't have to keep fiddling around with this simulated version that we made.
